Klondike Days/Alpha Yaya Diallo

alpha.jpg

I wasn't planning to go to Klondike Days this year, until I found out that Alpha Yaya Diallo would be there as part of the Africa exhibit. He is a singer originally from West Africa who is now based out of Vancouver. I saw him at the Edmonton Folk Music Festival a few years and was fantastic, especially at the volunteer party. So went and caught his show (which was excellent), threw away $20 in the Casino and caught a little bit of Loverboy. Although nostalgic, Loverboy wasn't very good and the sound quality was horrible, so I only stayed for about 5 songs.

Canada Day 2004

I had Canada Day off work, so I went to check out the Summer Silly Parade on Whyte Avenue. Can you guess which was my favorite float? Then I listened to some bands on Rice Howard Way, as part of The Works festival, and checked out the fireworks later.
